POLYSIS is designed for scientists and researchers interested in exploring the physico-chemical properties of polymers and materials using the gas chromatography method. To use POLYSIS, a set-up of GC for the IGC experiments is necessary. That includes the preparation of the chromatographic columns of the materials to be examined in their laboratory. The preparation of the columns can be found in the experimental section of this website. The necessary chromatographic parameters needed to be utilized by POLYSIS are:
All these chromatographic parameters must be manually inputted into POLYSIS. The first 7 parameters are the same for all solvents examined on the same day of the experiment, except for the temperature entry. Those parameters need to be entered only once on the left hand side of the screen. If the experiment is extended to a different day, the inlet and the outlet pressures need to be re-entered. Item 8, the solvent’s retention times are different from one solvent to another, must be entered into the solvent’s code tab for each temperature used.
